This has been a wonderful week. It will take a few more weeks yet until I realize that this is really home for now. It still seems temporary.
I am pretty thoroughly settled in and this week I should fall into something of a routine. The first two days of classes went well and this promises to be a fun and full week. I am making more friends and meeting a lot of people, especially in the music department. I have found a few great Christian friends, not the least of whom is Aileen. She and I spent the day together today and enjoyed each other's company and Christian fellowship. It is amazing how God has caused our paths to cross for our mutual encouragement as we walk this rather lonely path. We will certainly grow in our friendship.
All my music classes couldn't be better. My other two--German and religion--are a little different. The German professor is a character, to say the least, and it may not be the most productive class I take in my sojourn here. My religion class promises to be very liberal. That could either be a fun challenge, full of stimulating interaction with my professor, or it could be very frustrating and difficult. At this point I expect it will be the former.
I am still battling a brutal combination of cold and allergies. I think I'm known here in two ways: 1) as the girl with the incessant, loud cough, 2) as the music major who opened up her computer in the opening advising session on Tuesday and accidentally let it make noise, resulting in a less-than-pleased comment from the head of the music department: "That's very sweet, but you can go ahead and put that away anytime." Whoa. I think I'm going down in music majors of '10 history!
Today has been a lovely, restful Sunday. My new pastor preached a wonderful sermon on Hebrews 8. I am so blessed to be at this church and sitting under such fine preaching each week.
Now I'm tired and eager to get to sleep since I my 5 classes and 2 hours of practice start tomorrow at 8:00.
In closing, a few prayer requests:
For rapid healing of my cough and congestion--voice class starts tomorrow and is not going to be a pretty picture!
For discipline, focus, and guidance as I re-adjust to a full-time student lifestyle. It's been a more awkward adjustment than I expected. Things like "Wow, I don't have any notebook paper!" keep tripping me up.
For my roommate, Kameko. We're getting along well so far and enjoying each other's company, though we move in very different circles of friends. Pray that she would come to know the Lord.
For myself, and for Aileen also, as we both are desiring wisdom to know how best and how much to befriend those around us living in sin. Pray especially for Chris, one of our friends who is quite likely homosexual--that he would come to a saving knowledge of Christ. Aileen and I are both new to being surrounded by unbelievers.
For travelling mercies as I head to Atlanta this weekend for the International WIC conference.
Thanks to all those of you who are praying for me--what an encouragement it is!
For any of you stopping in for the first time, welcome! Feel free to pass this on to anyone you like, and if you want to hear more about the past few days, scroll down!

Re: Your German class. Maybe you could do REEEAALLLY well, ace it, and then go to the administration and complain about what a rotten teacher he is.
Did the music dude mean that you couldn't use your computer at all in the class?
