Another week is over and it has passed so fast. It's good to have my test done. I had a very good organ lesson on Wednesday. Things went downhill from there, though. I crashed after the adrenaline from Wednesday wore off and did almost nothing on Thursday. Friday I was out of my mind to the extent that I missed a quiz: simply forgot about that little detail of life at St. Olaf where I have a quiz EVERY SINGLE FRIDAY MORNING. My only explanation is that my mind is spending most of its time in Florida lately. Trying to get that under control.
Yesterday was a productive though laid-back study day. It's been in the 80s here for some strange reason and consequently it's been too hot indoors (with no air-conditioning) to enjoy working there. So I've spent a lot of time outside, which is why I am now covered in mosquito bites. I love my Saturdays. I love not having classes and enjoying a whole day of studying "my style." I'm excited about fall break since I'll have three of those days. Saturdays I get up by 7:00 usually and just work steadily till I go to bed. Then Sundays are so restful.
Today was a good day. I've done almost nothing and that has been so restoring. Church was wonderful this morning. I slept for a couple hours this afternoon, enjoyed dinner and a long walk and talk with a friend I almost never see. Then I put in more work on my project: my non-school, non-work, therapeutic composition project. Suddenly I am composing again, now that I'm not a composition major! It's liberating.
Now I must clean things up in our room to prepare for Bible study.
The worst part about tomorrow is that I have to play the clarinet. Woodwind class is not fun right now since it takes so much air for me to get a sound out of a reed that I leave class light-headed. Not only that but my jaw does not like the clarinet embouchure apparently. Oh, the little things!
Some things to pray for--that I'll have grace, winsomeness, and strength to confront one of my friends with her constant manipulative lying that is fast alienating not just me. I've caught her in a total fabrication: She told me one of our profs asked her if there was "Something going on between Beisner and Lucianno." Funny, but when I mentioned it light-heartedly to the professor she said, "Oh, she must be pulling your leg." I've had enough of that so I'm going to lay the cards on the table. Pray for opportunity to confront her with her need of Christ. Nothing else will address the issues at hand.
Pray for a clear mind and strength as I take a theory mid-term Tuesday. That's the only big academic challenge on the schedule this week and then, to my delight, we have fall break next Monday and Tuesday.
Pray for me to have "a present mind." I've struggled to keep my mind on my studies this week and I need that to change.
Also pray the dentist office in Owatonna will be able and willing to fix my broken jaw splint that I wear at night. It fell and broke in half the other day. :(
